Kohan: Ahriman’s Gift is a prequel to Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns. It could have been just an expansion but you won’t be disappointed. This time you’re the bad guys so you’ll get treated to some new units and maps. Read more

Hot Shots Golf 3

March 28, 2002

The original Hot Shots Golf changed the way I thought about golf games. It was so much fun, I really wondered if I was playing a golf game. However, the sequel was not quite as polished as the original and after going back to the drawing board, Sony brings gamers back to golfing excellence with Hot Shots Golf 3. Read more

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

March 27, 2002

Firstly, ID software proved me wrong… big time. I was under the impression that they were a crippled and dying corporation with a few measly hit games (bit of an understatement but hey) under their belts. Well it seems they were just waiting to pounce this bad-boy on us. Return to Castle Solfenstein sets us is in… well… Castle Wolfenstein. You are an army ranger B.J. Barkowitz or something, and are given the mission to escape from said castle, report what you see, and then go back and destroy said castle and its occupants. Read more

NFL Prime Time 2002

March 27, 2002

If there is one gaming genre that is overcrowded, it would have to be pro football. EA, Sega Sports, Microsoft, 989, Acclaim, and now Konami are all fighting for the gamer’s attention–not to mention their fifty bucks for their title. While this year marks the return of Konami to the sports arena, they still find themselves out of contention as one of the best sports titles on the next-generation consoles. However, there are many positive elements to build upon for next year’s version. Read more

SpyHunter

March 26, 2002

After being disappointed by the GameCube port, developer Point of View delivers yet another port of SpyHunter–this time to the Xbox. While I still have some problems with the gameplay and the “dark look” of the graphics, this version is definitely the best out there for any console–including the PS2. Read more

18 Wheeler: All American Trucker

March 26, 2002

Straight from the Arcades and Dreamcast, Sega delivers 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker, the follow up to their insanely fun Crazy Taxi. While Sega chose to not directly port the home version of 18 Wheeler to any other consoles other than the DC, Acclaim was ready with open arms to continue their relationship with Sega and port over another title for them. While this title has been seen on a variety of platforms, only the GBA and Xbox have not seen this title yet. Those of you who are without a DC or PS2 will be fortunate to know that the GameCube port of 18 Wheeler is just as fun as the original DC title–but lacks a little charm that the arcade version had. Shadow Man: 2econd Coming

March 25, 2002

To understand this game, brought to you by Acclaim, you must understand the storyline first — which I must admit, is a little on the complicated side, but I will give it a try anyway. Read more

SpyHunter

March 25, 2002

I was looking forward to SpyHunter last year on the Playstation 2. However, in the end, it was very disappointing and did not live up to the expectations I had for it after playing it at E3. When I heard that Midway was teaming up with developer Point of View to port it over to the GameCube, I was hopeful that they might change up the game a little bit–correcting some of the problems in the PS2 version. Unfortunately, the final product ends up being worse than the PS2 original. Read more

Gun Valkyrie

March 25, 2002

Before playing JSRF and Gun Valkyrie, I had nothing against either Sega or Smilebit. However, after spending many hours playing both titles, I feel ripped off that I have lost those precious hours of my life and cannot get them back. Sega’s latest title, Gun Valkyrie, is yet another Sega title I have anticipated playing. Using the high tech graphics the Xbox can deliver with a Sci-Fi story, this title stood out as one to look out for last year at E3. Unfortunately, for gamers, Gun Valkyrie turns out to be yet another dud from Sega and Smilebit. If you are keeping score at home, the team of Sega and Smilebit find themselves in the hole 0-2 with their Xbox titles. Read more

The C&C series is one of the most popular series in video gaming, and this game promised to make a new type of game in the C&C universe. Did it work? Yes, yes it did. Read more
