The Sum of all Fears
June 28, 2002
So what would be your worst fear? Do you fear the government might soon make four years of college mandatory for all citizens? Perhaps you fear a Female ambulance driver rushing you to the hospital? Maybe you fear the long-awaited return of a certain idolized Jew from Bethlehem? How about a nuclear bomb detonated at the site of the Super Bowl? Now we’re getting somewhere. This idea is the catalyst behind the latest tactical FPS from Red Storm. Read more
Medal of Honor: Frontline
June 28, 2002
In just the last few years, there has been an explosion of World War II-themed material to come out of both Hollywood and the world of video games. The trend really exploded with the release of Saving Private Ryan. What wasn’t to be liked about that movie? It was the most grisly and realistic portrayal of warfare ever. Read more

Freekstyle
June 27, 2002
Freekstyle is without a doubt the best motocross game ever. There are tons of insane tricks, even more combos, imaginative tracks, big attitude, and fire. Lots of fire. For sure Freekstyle lives up to the EA BIG name we’ve all come to expect, but it also has some of the same flaws EA BIG games typically have. EA BIG games such as SSX and NBA Street have always been about tricks, big combos, and of course, imagination. A vast majority of the tricks in all EA BIG games are nearly impossible for any human to ever perform, but that’s the appeal. Read more
Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Duel Stories
June 26, 2002
Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories for Game Boy Color was released back in 1996 but has finally hit the United States. For those who know nothing about it basically it plays like Magic the Gathering with rules that are a lot easier to understand. That way anyone can begin playing right away. As in any collectible card battle game two players, you and a friend or you and the computer play against each other with a deck of no more or less then 40 cards. It’s usually made of up monster cards with varying attack and defensive powers and magic cards that can either boost your creatures, destroy enemy creatures, and a host of other things. There are over 700 cards in all and all of them are accessible after a while. You’ll interact with all the characters from the TV show and increase your duelist standing making your way to fight the Rulers of the Heavens for the Millennium Items. As an extra bonus it comes with 3 rare cards for the physical card game. Read more
Tactics Ogre: The Knights of Lodis
June 26, 2002
I have not been a big fan of the Tactics series. While I have tried to play them, they have been very difficult, hard to get started, and not much fun to play–especially when you find yourself dead after the first or second encounter. When I got my hands on Tactics Ogre: The Knights of Lodis, I reluctantly started it up. However, instead of screaming at the incredibly cheap AI, I found the title to be fun. In fact, it is as good as many of the classic “big screen console” Strategy/RPG’s. Read more
Brothers Discuss E3 2002
June 26, 2002
E3 is an amazing experience. Every year, the real greatest show on Earth dazzles industry insiders with games, girls and a whole lot of cool little lighting effects. This year, Keith and I decided to share some of our opinions about the show. We originally intended to have this article done shortly after E3, but well, we’re just too lazy. Well, anyway, we finally sat down and, between all the farting, giggling, and games of Halo, we managed to come up with the bit of nonsense you see below; read and enjoy! Read more
RedCard 20-03
June 26, 2002
Midway has really done a great job in the past few years developing some incredible new titles. With successful updates to Blitz and new franchises like Hitz and Slugfest, Midway has taken a “sim oriented” sports market and breathed new life into the genre by giving players a chance to hit harder, score faster, and become a super-star athlete. While most of the time the action is a bit unrealistic–it is fun and entertaining. However, in their latest title, Midway has taken the “Blitz” out of RedCard and tried to make a hybrid simulation/arcade game. The end result is a mixed bag. While it isn’t all bad, I was expecting a lot more. Read more
Stitch: Experiment 626
June 24, 2002
Imagine: a creature from the bowels of a cloning facility designed to be genetically indestructible, run amok on various corners of the universe set on destroying all life encountered and collecting DNA samples for his creator. Sounds a bit like Frankenstein meets an episode of Star Wars in which Spock would lose even his Vulcan sensibilities. It is Stitch: Experiment 626, a prequel to the new animated feature from Disney, Lilo and Stitch. This is before Stitch gets all nice and ooey-gooey in the movie, of course. In the game, he has a gun in each of his four paws and destroys everything around him. Bonus. Read more
Eternal Darkness: Santiy’s Requiem
June 24, 2002
Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem was scheduled to be a launch title when the GameCube released in November of 2001. However, Silicon Knights decided to delay the title so they could perfect the camera angles and add a few more small touches to the title. While the wait has been long, now that I have had a chance to play Eternal Darkness, I must say I am impressed. How impressed am I? If you don’t already own a Cube, this title might warrant a purchase of the system. Read more
