ATV Offroad Fury 2

January 31, 2003

I maybe in the minority when I say this, but I was not a big fan of the original ATV Offroad Fury game. I was not a big fan of the gameplay or the graphics. One of the first things that appealed to me about playing ATV Offroad Fury 2 was the online play. Naturally I am a huge fan of online gaming whether it’s taking down guys in SOCOM or Black Hawk Down or crushing someone with my unstoppable defense in Madden 2003. ATV Offroad Fury 2 is one of Sony’s first online games for the PS2 with the exception of NFL GameDay 2003 and Twisted Metal Black Online. Does Sony’s sequel deliver? Read more

The Getaway

January 28, 2003

The Getaway is a game that appears to be awesome at first glance. However, after spending some time with it, you will become disappointed with the final product. If you would have told me that I would be this upset about The Getaway back at E3 this last year, I would have laughed at you. Sitting down with one of the lead developers at Team Soho, he walked me through the first couple of levels. I was amazed. But what went wrong in the final product? Read more

Guilty Gear X2

January 26, 2003

Sammy and developer Arc System Works delivers the fast and furious, anime style sequel to Guilty Gear for the PlayStation 2. While not a favorite genre of mine, I was intrigued to play this title since I didn’t spend any time with the first one in the series. After spending some time with GGX2, I have discovered that this franchise delivers all the fun and excitement of Capcom fighters–but with a better overall experience. Read more

Dead or Alive Xteme Beach Volleyball

January 24, 2003

Tecmo’s Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is one of the quirkiest games I’ve played in a long, long time. It is definitely not something you run into every day, and although it is decidedly strange at first, the Japanese flavor of it quickly grows on you. There’s plenty to do on Zack Island, and you’ll want to make the most of your limited time there. Read more

January 21, 2003

Popping the Two Towers cart into your GBA and you’re almost instantly shown a myriad of actual clips from the film. Nothing that hasn’t been shown in trailers. Just enough to get the message across that, after the last batch of lackluster Lord of The Rings games, modern fans of the films are finally getting what they want… a full movie license. Read more
