In the past, Konami has created masterpiece series such as Dance Dance Revolution, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, Frogger, Suikoden and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Joining in on the Survival Horror craze after the release of Resident Evil, Konami added to their list of franchises in 1999 with the release of Silent Hill. Read more

Missing: Since January

July 27, 2004

At E3 2004, one of the quiet little titles that really caught our eye was Missing: Since January. This is a PC adventure game that attempts to give the genre a shot in the arm. Anyone who keeps up with the status of the Adventure genre will tell you that it is filled with numerous Myst clones and rarely bring anything new to the table. However, this is not the case with Missing: Since January. While it isn’t the best adventure game every developed, it is worth picking up due to the cleverness of the title and the low retail price point of $19.99. Read more

Half-Life System Requirements Announced

July 14, 2004

In anticipation for the release of Half-Life 2, which we assume will be released in the first week of September, Gabe Newell of Valve said that the minimum system requirements Valve suggests are a 2.4 GHz CPU, 512 RAM, Direct X 9 video card. However, if you don’t have that powerful of a system, you can still run Half-Life 2 with a 1.2 GHz CPU, 256 RAM, and a Direct X 7 video card. RAM specifics for the video card were not given, but we assume that the requirements will be at least a 64 MB video card. Read more

RE4 Delayed Again?

July 12, 2004

Okay, you know the drill. We have a big AAA title that is headed to the GameCube. So you know what that means…. Delay Time! It appears almost one hundred percent certain that Resident Evil 4 will slip from a Winter 2004 release date to a release sometime between January and March of 2005. Capcom refuses to make a comment about this right now. Read more

Chronicles of Riddick

July 12, 2004

I have to admit that I have a weak spot for atmosphere. Movies, games, whatever – my favorites are those that suck you in so completely that you forget life is going on around you. There are some games that are so involving that you get lost in them, and at the end of the day the sun’s gone down, you haven’t bothered to turn the light on, and you’re in the dark. You get tunnel vision on the TV screen, and as far as you’re concerned, that’s all there is to the world. Naturally, this works best with the darkest and grittiest games. To give examples, I’d have to say, think of Doom. Think of Quake. Half-Life. Red Faction. Halo. All these are FPS games that were so fully realized that you could suspend your disbelief and feel the atmosphere surround you. Well, the Xbox has been blessed with another such title: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Read more

Geist will have to wait

July 6, 2004

In a move that shouldn’t surprise anyone, Nintendo has once again delayed their GameCube title Geist. The title has already seen many delays and although Nintendo promises the title will be released in 2005, I am beginning to fear the title could be canned. While this would be unfortunate, I hope the developers just need a little more time to get this title out the door. With this delay, we should expect to see the game shown at E3 2005.
