Nintendo DS: Lets do LAUNCH

November 22, 2004

It hasn’t been very long since Nintendo last released the Game Boy Advance SP. But since Nintendo announced that they would release the Nintendo DS back at E3 in May of 2004, they have had a lot of doubters… Yes, I was one of the doubters. However, I had reasons to justify my doubts. Nintendo would not officially, and still hasn’t to this day, announced that Nintendo DS is the successor to the Game Boy Advance. Does this mean that Nintendo DS is an experiment like the Virtual Boy? Does Nintendo feel like they can still sell both consoles and announcing the DS as the successor would hinder any sales for the GBA? Read more

Nintendo DS

November 21, 2004

Nintendo’s big focus this holiday season seems to be the Nintendo DS. Even Metroid Prime 2: Echoes seems to have been pushed aside to shine the spotlight on Nintendo’s handheld revolution. It was all so quick too. It was just six months ago that the Nintendo DS was first revealed to the world at E3, and now the system is premiering in North America. This is the first system that Nintendo has ever launched outside of Japan. Read more

Tron 2.0: Killer App

November 20, 2004

Science Fiction fans love Tron. Back when it was released in 1982, it created a revolution that people are still in love with today. Despite the popularity of it, there has never been a movie sequel. Buena Vista Games tried to resolve that with Tron 2.0 for the PC last year. Now they have ported the PC version over to the Xbox in Tron 2.0: Killer App. Read more

The Nightmare of Druaga

November 20, 2004

Back in the 1980′s Namco released an Arcade title called The Tower of Druaga. This game put players deep in a dungeon for some real-time hack and slash action. These type of games don’t come out that often so I was pretty surprised to see The Nightmare of Druaga released. Unfortunately, this game is just not my cup of tea. Read more

Mortal Kombat: Deception

November 20, 2004

I recall when Mortal Kombat was first released to home consoles during the era of the SNES and Genesis. Nintendo would not allow the game to show blood and the developers were forced to show “sweat being beaten off the characters. Sega had no problem with blood and although the game didn’t look as sharp on the Genesis, players preferred to play it there. Despite the countless sequels, I don’t ever remember there being as much buzz about a Mortal Kombat game until now. Read more

Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders

November 19, 2004

Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders is actually not a brand new franchise. Although it was not a popular game, the original Kingdom Under Fire: A War of Heroes was available only on the PC and was yet another standard RTS clone. Because of the lack of originality, the title never sold well. Something, however, caused Microsoft to sign on to Publish Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders though. They made a pretty good choice in choosing it too! Read more

The best part is that it only retails for fifteen bucks! Yes, you read that right… fifteen bucks! Read more

The developer of the popular The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers game for EA has joined forces with Atari to bring the same type of Action gameplay to the home consoles based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe. While The Two Towers was a really good game, Stormfront has really done a lot to improve the formula and the end result is a hack and slash dream called Demon Stone. Read more
