The last two titles in the TimeSplitters franchise have been developed by Free Radical and published by Eidos Interactive. In January, Free Radical signed an agreement with EA Games that will allow them to publish the next incarnation of the TimeSplitters franchise. With that deal firmly in place, Free Radical is set to release the next title in 2005 and is calling it TimeSplitters Future Perfect. Read more

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction

April 18, 2005

At first glance Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction might seem to be just another Grand Theft Auto wanna-be, but it manages to generate a generous amount of elbow room for itself in the genre. Instead of wanton destruction and thuggery, it focuses on a hired soldier who accepts missions for various fictional factions (and dishes out some wanton destruction). The difference between completing missions as a means to resolve an on-going war and simply jacking cars and cracking heads as a lifestyle choice was a big enough distinction that I didn’t feel like the cops were going to bust down my door and slap the cuffs on me while playing. Music to My Ears Part 1

April 13, 2005

Listening to music is something that we have done in our society for quite some time. In the past, it used to require carrying around large devices that held few songs. We used cassette players and CD players for years. Now, with the introduction of larger capacity MP3 players, like the Apple iPod, it is possible for someone to carry around their entire music library in the palm of the hand! And technology is allowing these devices to get smaller and smaller everyday. But in a world where we have access to such vast music libraries and incredible sound technologies, not having the right earphones to hear the music makes all this technology pointless. Unfortunately, manufacturers do not supply users with high quality headphones with the purchase of a music device. To fill this void, there are several manufacturers that offer replacement headphones that can provide users with the quality their music deserves. Read more

Klonoa is one of the franchises Namco first started on the PlayStation. They continued it on the PS2 several years later before moving the series to the Game Boy Advance. Klonoa 2: Dream Champ looks and plays just like the first one. In fact, the game has been out for a long time in Japan. For some unknown reason Namco has been sitting on this title just waiting for the right opportunity to release it. Apparently the time is right now and GBA owners can finally play this magnificent puzzle title. Read more

The iPod revolution is something that has been sweeping over the world since the introduction of iTunes. There is this phenomenon called “The Halo Effect.” This causes consumers who have fallen in love with the iPod to rush out and purchase other Apple hardware and eventually they become hooked on the Mac OS X Operating System. Metal Gear Acid

April 4, 2005

Solid Snake isn’t new to portable systems. Snake first appeared on the Game Boy many years ago with a title that played surprisingly well. Excitingly, for the first time on any handheld system, Konami has brought Snake to a handheld in full 3D. This isn’t just a standard port of Metal Gear Solid 3 or another title from the past. Instead, the latest installment of Metal Gear is a Card Strategy game. Just the mention of hearing that this game doesn’t play like a standard Metal Gear title may quickly turn some of you away. However, if you are a fan of Strategy games and take the time to play Metal Gear Acid, you will find that this is arguably the best game on Sony’s new PSP. Read more
