Guitar Hero
December 20, 2005
Admit it, you’ve played air guitar before. Some of us are lucky enough to be able to rock out on a real guitar, while the rest of us use our imagination. Whether you are in the first or second group of people, Harmonix and Red Octane have created a game that will be enjoyed by everyone and holds as one of the best music games to ever grace a console. VanaDiel_December2k5
December 18, 2005
Greetings fellow citizens of Vana’Diel, here we are, another month gone by. So, by this time the December update has hit home. I trust the Dragoons and Summoners are having a great time checking out the new goodies SE threw in for them with this update. In case you’ve been living under a rock in Ordelle’s Cave, the December update addressed some key issues with the Dragoon class and also introduced Diabolos for Summoners. Since we don’t know what to expect in the January update (or if there will even be a January update), we thought it’d be nice to go over some of the key points of the December update in the meantime. As the head of Working Designs, Vic Ireland has confirmed the company’s cease of operations with its employees laid off and the office shut down in a message posting on the Working Designs forum. Metroid Prime Pinball
December 14, 2005
We’re used to seeing Mario spin-offs, but you can understand why Nintendo fans were concerned when Metroid Prime Pinball was announced. Metroid Pinball was developed by the same studio that brought us Mario Pinball Land, a game which was not well received. Fortunately, it turns out that Samus fits into pinball form much better than Mario does, and the game is much more than a cash grabbing spin-off. Read more
Peter Jackson’s King Kong
December 12, 2005
There are several things you can count on in life. Christmas will wreck your budget, Thanksgiving will cause you to eat entirely too much, New Years will get you to drink a few more drinks than you should, and every new blockbuster movie will have a crappy video game based on it. Seen by game Publishers normally as “quick cash, these games are often rushed to the market, don’t offer any real enjoyment, and are usually not even worth a rental. So with this knowledge, that means Peter Jackson’s King Kong is bad game, right? Not so fast! Read more
Perfect Dark Zero
December 8, 2005
Joanna Dark is back on the gaming scene after a near decade-long absence. Rare’s flagship Xbox 360 offering, Perfect Dark Zero, is the prequel to the N64 smash hit, Perfect Dark. PDZ gives players a look at Joanna before she became an agent of the Carrington Institute and tells the tale of how she eventually winds up there. The seedy mega corporation DataDyne also makes a return and just as before, the suits are up to no good. PDZ had a lot of hype to live up to, but is the game everything we’d hoped it would be? Further proving the point that Sony may sell the PlayStation 3 at a loss to win the Blu-ray vs HD DVD wars, Fox announced that it will not release HD DVD titles and instead use Blu-ray.
