The 2005 Bernies

January 31, 2006

Each year, every gaming web site and magazine hold their own “Games of the Year Awards Ceremony.” However, CVGames is the only place where you will find yearly gaming awards with a picture of Bernie Stolar on the trophies. Why Bernie? Bernie is a shining star to the gaming industry. He is the only individual that has ever launched multiple successful gaming systems from competing companies. He did it first with the PlayStation and after leaving Sony, he successfully launched the DreamCast in North America. While the DC may have ultimately fallen, Bernie left the company long before the problems began.

Without any further delay, here are our picks for our Best and Worst of 2005: Read more

After weeks and weeks of speculation, Microsoft has unleashed a downloadable update for Xbox 360 owners. Gamers are given the option to update the next time they log on to their Xbox 360 dashboard. Quake 4

January 17, 2006

I reviewed the PC version of Quake 4 a while back and really enjoyed the game. While it was a lot more of the same fast-paced Quake action we have seen before, it was done on top of the DOOM 3 Engine and really made DOOM 3 look like a bad game. With all the power of the Xbox 360 and the stunning results we have seen with titles like Call of Duty 2 playing better on newly released Xbox than their PC counterpart, I am sad to say that the ball has been dropped on this release. Originally planned as a launch title, the game was delayed a week, then three days, then another two weeks, then one day, another week, another day and finally we have the game in our grubby mitts. Now that I’ve been able to spend some quality time alone with the game and with some friends, it’s time to take a look at the game and see how it fares against the other Xbox 360 titles. Read more

Call of Duty 2

January 2, 2006

Call of Duty is arguably the best World War 2 title that has ever been developed and released. The popularity of this shooter franchise has been seen on both consoles and the PC. With the release of Call of Duty 2, Developer Infinity Ward sought to include even more realistic gameplay in an epic storyline that will leave you breathless until the end. They even made the game look and play better on the Xbox 360 than its PC counterpart. That is quit an accomplishment and shows what promise and power the 360 has in the First Generation of games.
