EA to Acquire Mythic Entertainment

Electronic Arts is set to purchase Mythic Entertainment, the makers of Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning MMOGs. According to a press release on Mythic’s site, the deal is slated to close in the second quarter of 2007 — assuming everything goes smoothly. Read more

Yoshi’s Island 2 (Post-E3 2006)

Ask a gamer who played through the 16-bit era what his favorite platformer is, and there’s a good chance he’ll mention Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. Despite his namesake, most gamers don’t consider it a Mario game because you played as Yoshi for one thing. More importantly though, the game featured unique, clever mechanics that were very different from any Mario platformers. Read more

It’s encouraging to see that Electronic Arts is really getting behind the Wii and devoting teams to work on special Wii projects. Madden NFL 07 for Wii isn’t just the next Madden game. It’s going to be unique from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, and EA Canada is doing some pretty cool things with it. Since the Wii is still new, let me just make sure that you understand that Wii has a new, special type of motion sensing controller. You probably already know all about it, but if you don’t, go read some previews of Nintendo’s new Wii console hardware. Any articles you read about Wii games won’t make sense if you don’t. Read more
