Nintendo announced that on August 24th, the 2 millionth unique player logged onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for the first time. The one year anniversary of the online gaming service is still over two months away, yet over 70 million game sessions have already been logged. Read more

Pirates of the Burning Sea

Flying Lab Software announced that their anticipated MMORPG, Pirates of the Burning Sea will launch in June 2007. Already in beta testing, the game features real-time ship-to-ship and pirate-to-pirate melee combat. The gameplay promises both tactical and action elements in addition to the RPG aspects of being a ship captain in the 1720′s. Flying Lab Software is currently exhibiting at PAX.
New DS Lite Colors Available Soon

The North American market has had only one option when it comes to the Nintendo DS Lite since it was launched last June. Yes, I’ve been pretty jealous since even Europe had their choice of white or black, while Americans were only given the option of Polar White. Madden Launches to Eager Gamers at 2006 Release Party

After securing the exclusive rights to release the only licensed NFL game, EA has once again readied a new version of Madden for gamers to enjoy. Last year, they really dropped the ball (no pun intended) and the Xbox 360 version was among the worst of all versions. Even the GameCube had a better, more playable version of Madden football. This year, EA has tried to remedy this with a more consistent version of Madden 2007 to all platforms.
I had the chance to attend a local Madden 2007 party at a nearby Gamestop store. Fellow CVG Editors Emily and Antoine also accompanied me to the event so we could “get our Madden fix” and begin playing the game through the night and into the next day. Read more
New Expansion for Dark Age of Camelot

For the games 5th anniversary, EA Mythic will be releasing its 5th retail expansion (7th total expansion counting the two free ones). Entitled Labyrinth of the Minotaur (LotM), it will feature, aptly enough, a new minotaur race that joins all three realms — not to mention a new class. Read more
