Today Nintendo adds three new classic games to the popular Wii video game system’s Wii Shop Channel. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Stranglehold for PS3 Finally Ships

Midway logo.jpgMidway Games, today announced that Stranglehold for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system is now shipping to retail outlets in North America. The cinematic action video game featuring duel-wielding, stunt-laden gameplay, incredible environmental destruction and an intense online multiplayer experience is available for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system for a U.S. suggested retail price of $59.99. The PS3 collector’s edition will feature the game and a full-length version of John Woo’s critically acclaimed action film “Hard Boiled” both on the same high-capacity PlayStation 3 Blu-ray disc, for a suggested retail price of $69.99. The Xbox 360 version is currently available for a U.S. suggested retail price of $59.99, and $69.99 for the collector’s edition. Sega Announces PSU Expansion

SEGA of America, Inc. today released details for Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Playstation 2 computer entertainment system and for PC. Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus is an expansion to the epic sci-fi action role-playing game, Phantasy Star Universe, and will be available on November 20, 2007. The Xbox Live download will be available for 1600 Microsoft Points/$20 USD and the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and PC versions will be available at retailers across North America for $39.95 USD. The Witcher as Good as Gold

Atari_corporate_logo.jpgAtari has announced today that The Witcher has gone gold and is scheduled to ship to retailers in North America on October 30. Developed by CD Projekt, The Witcher is a Games for Windows title and will be available exclusively for the PC. The Witcher transcends traditional fantasy role-playing by throwing players into a unique fantasy world rife with modern social issues such as terrorism, political intrigue and racism where the lines between good and evil are blurred. Based on a fictional world created by best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher casts players as Geralt, a legendary monster slayer and master swordfighter with supernatural abilities and reflexes. Rat Race Brings Episodic Gaming to PS3

Why Are Developers Leaving Microsoft?

When Microsoft first entered the gaming industry, they did so on the back of a relatively small Games division with no blockbuster titles. Fortunately for them, the acquisition of Bungie Studios and the Halo franchise gave the console a great start and took the Microsoft Games Studios to new heights. Although the Xbox was never the global success Microsoft had hoped it would be, the company continued to slowly gather partners and lay an even greater foundation for their Xbox 360 console. After dominating the hardcore, next-generation market for two years, Microsoft had built up a library of fantastic titles, continued to acquire companies for their First Party, and built very strong relationships with Second Party Studios. While Sony has struggled to gain enough software support and their sales have lagged behind the Xbox 360, Microsoft has seemingly thumbed their noses at the market by allowing several key developers to leave. So this begs the question: why are developers leaving Microsoft? Read more

Sega Rally Revo Demo Invades PC

SEGA of America, Inc. announced that the PC demo for SEGA Rally Revo, the truly thrilling and highly anticipated racing game, is available for download. The demo features two quick race tracks taken from the colorful, steep sided Canyon environment and the gloriously muddy and downright dirty Tropical environment. Players will also have the choice of literally tearing up the deformable surfaces in either the Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ3 or the Subaru Impreza STi Spec C type RA. Read more
