QuakeCon 2008 has begun at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. CVGames has journied down Interstate 35 to bring you all the latest news and information from the show. Tonight we will hear from the creative genius behind id Software’s engines, John Carmack, for some of the first in-depth footage of their upcoming title RAGE. Star Trek Online Coming

Bungie Working on Multiple Projects

The sudden cancellation of Bungie’s big announcement at E3 may have left a cloud of disappointment over the event for fans, but in a recent update on their website, the developers revealed that they currently have three different projects underway. So what are these projects and when can we expect them? No one knows just yet; no details have been given. The only information in the update states, “At the moment we do have three distinct projects underway within Bungie – some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off.” Read more
Linked Achievements in Gears of War 2

Comic-Con began last week in San Diego (today is the last day) and Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski was on hand to talk a little Gears of War 2 with convention attendees. During his presentation, he revealed a new feature about the game and how it will interact with the original Gears of War title; certain achievements from the first game will unlock bonus content in Gears 2. Post-E3 2008: StarCraft II

I have many fond memories of the original StarCraft. In fact, I still consider it to be the very best Real Time Strategy game ever made. StarCraft provided some of the very best single player and multiplayer gaming moments on my PC. Not a single soul on the earth could stop my Terran rush attack or the mighty power of my Protoss air attacks. I was ruthless and would leave my enemies completely destroyed. Fortunately for us all, we will soon get to relive these past strategies and develop new ones as Blizzard is currently developing StarCraft II. Read more
E3 2008: Where are My PS3 Trophies?

When Microsoft first announced the Xbox 360, players were immediately captivated by the Achievement system. An Achievement was simply an event that the player must complete in a game to unlock. Each Achievement has its own number of points and each game can have a maximum of 1,000 points—less if you are an Arcade title. Like rumble, Sony ignored this system and didn’t offer it to their players. For the longest times, we heard talk that there was a struggle at Sony over this decision and that Sony would release a system called Entitlements. This was partially true. Sony has quietly launched a firmware update to deliver Trophies to players. So I investigated at E3 2008 to see who is using these trophies and how hard they were to implement to past titles. Nintendo Loses Wiimote Case

With the success of the Nintendo DS and Wii, it looks like nobody can stop Nintendo. Both Microsoft and Sony have failed to come close to matching sales of either Nintendo console anywhere in the world. However, for a local Tyler company, they may be the first to slow down Nintendo as they have won a lawsuit against the company over the use of the Wiimote. Read more
