Iwata to Keynote GDC 2009

Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo will deliver a keynote address at the 2009 Game Developers Conference, kicking-off the main conference’s schedule of lectures, panel discussions and roundtables that provide the central forum for learning, inspiration, and networking in the games industry. The address, “Discovering New Development Opportunities” marks Iwata-san’s first return to the GDC keynote stage since 2006. Read more

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is excited to announce that F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin has officially “gone gold” on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and will ship to retailers in North America on February 10, 2009. Read more
Total War in March

SEGA today announced that the next iteration of the critically acclaimed Total War series, Empire: Total War, will be shipped to stores in North America and Canada March 3rd and available to buy in stores around the world on March 4th. In addition, customers will be able to purchase the game as a digital download at 6:00 PM GMT on the 3rd of March, with the exception of North American and Canadian customers who will be able to purchase a digital download at 9:00 AM GMT on the 4th of March. Devil Summoner Limited Release Details

No Rock Band 3 in 2009

Harmonix has revealed that they will not be releasing Rock Band 3 in 2009. That said, the company does plan for a third installment to the music franchise. The focus for 2009 is to get the Beatles game finished. Read more
New DLC for End War

Ubisoft today announced the release of the “Faction Elite Pack” downloadable content (DLC) for Tom Clancy’s EndWar available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The “Faction Elite Pack” for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system will be available later today. The DLC is available for 300 Microsoft points or $3.75. Read more
Sony Merges Studios

The economic pressures of our global economy crash are starting to show up outside of the US. To minimize the impact, Sony is taking the development team Evolution Studios–who worked on the Excellent MotorStorm franchise–and Liverpool Studio–known for Wipeout–and combining them into a single development house.
