Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2

January 21, 2002

Wish you could bust a 720 Roastbeef to Varial Heelflip all in one move with your skateboard? I did too, until I picked up Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 off the shelf at my local computer store. Following up the greatest skateboarding game ever, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. The graphics are a huge improvement over Tony Hawk Pro Skater part 1, Neversoft seemed to have put more work into graphics for this game, and it seems to have paid off. The Tony Hawk series still proves to be the greatest skateboarding series ever. Again I can’t help but stress the graphics, they are great! When you look at the faces of the skaters they look like the real people, and the movements are very realistic.

The gameplay is great but lacks a few things. When I played and did tricks, I felt the feeling that the skaters were heavy, or the tricks felt slow (I know it’s not my PC that has the problems, I have an AMD Athlon 750mhz with 128mb of RAM). They’re not that bad, they’re still great, but it’s just not as fast and intense as Tony Hawk Pro Skater part 1. But, there are several factors that make this game the best in it’s class for gameplay. I love the fact that I could create my own skater, and “learn” the tricks for him, and how you have to earn money to better yourself. Also, when you create your own park, the possibilities are endless because there are a TON of objects you can place into your park. But before you buy this game, make sure you buy a gamepad for your computer. Any one is great, the cheaper ones that look like Playstation controllers are super, but I found myself using an Eliminator Gamepad Pro by Gravis, which is just like a Playstation controller, except it uses a joystick.

Overall, if you’re a big skate fan (or not), you should grab this game off of the shelves. I never skate at all, but I find this game greatly amazing. Be smart, don’t be a retard, this game is not hard at all. My 6-year old brother has a ball playing this game when there is nothing on T.V.!
