The new Major League Baseball season is well underway and this means that a new crop of video game titles based on America's favorite pastime have arrived. For years, 989 Sports has seen an enormous amount of criticism for the vast majority of titles they have released. Some of it may have been deserved. However, the company has been doing everything in its power to ensure their titles meet the quality fans expect. While it could have been easy to kick 989 Sports while they were down, and the rest of the press around the industry were busy doing the same, we at CVGames have tried to take a positive stance on 989 Sports' titles that have been released. Once again, their MLB franchise is alive and well. This year, it is so good, it even can be called the best baseball title on any platform.

Set in Norrath in a time well before the current events in EverQuest, Champions of Norrath begins with a summons for would-be heroes to help defeat the threat of the goblins and orcs of the land, and it takes these adventuresome souls threw danger-infested woodlands, dark dungeons, burning sands, frigid ice fields, underwater, and into the very realm of the gods. While there are those that you meet along the way (especially the bad guys) who would see you fail, it is up to you to find your way through the challenges and prove your worth. It does always help when you can pick right back up at your last saved spot when things go less than ideally, and they probably will along the way.

One of the longest running series of video games has finally received a direct sequel to a game! The 1st Final Fantasy game to reach a new era of video gaming. The Final Fantasy Series has been around since the 1980's. The first Final Fantasy game was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in the day, and it was an unexpected hit to most video game buyers, containing hours of gameplay with a great story, the players were shocked and couldnât wait till the second version was out, and when it did come out, it was for Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and it was a bit confusing for the consumer that it didnât follow the story to the first video game. Then Square Soft announced that the Final Fantasy Series is a bunch of games separate with different story lines, formally the name Final. Finally on November. 18, 2003 Square-Enix, the combined companies of Enix and Square Soft, have created a game, that is one of a kind, A direct sequel to one of the Final Fantasy games. The amazing Final Fantasy X (10) for the Sony Playstation 2 has a sequel.

The survival/horror genre is one that is dominated by Resident Evils and Silent Hills, but among these great games, there are a few unique gems that, while often overlooked, are just as suspenseful and fun to play. One such game was Tecmo's original Fatal Frame. Fatal Frame put a twist on the genre by arming the player with only a soul-sucking camera to combat evil spirits rather than throwing the player a shotgun and sending out hordes of reanimated corpses to die yet again.

Spawn hasn't had the luxury of having a good game. After taking over the comic industry, action figures, and trying to take over Hollywood, the only two Spawn games ever developed have been plagued by several shortcomings. However, we haven't seen a Spawn game since the DreamCast days and Namco now tries their hands and correcting the mistakes of the past. We saw a really early build of Spawn during E3 and it was looking nice. However, the game wasn't any more than a single room to showcase a little bit of the action. Does this Namco lead project succeed?
