Players: 1+ Player Game | Genre: MOBA
Release Date: July 2015
We all figured MOBA’s would come to the mobile platform eventually, right? Well, I’ll admit - I had my doubts as to whether or not any developers would actually be able to pull it off in a way that didn’t have a clunky or complicated control scheme. In my opinion, though - the new game from GAEA Mobile, Ace of Arenas has overcome most of the barriers to making the MOBA experience possible on our mobile devices.
I say ‘most’ because I had my hands on it, at E3, while it’s still under development - it’s slotted to come out this next month, in July, and I think that the experience I had at E3 gives me confidence enough in it to say that I think it’ll be one of the best, if not THE best MOBA experience on your phone or tablet.
In Ace of Arenas, things are geared to be fast action, and a bit shorter of games than your regular MOBA’s on PC - rather than having to go to base to buy items, you can buy them anytime, anywhere on the battlefield. Additionally, the modes available will be 3v3, 2v2, 1v1, and 1v1 vs A.I. - the 1v1 vs A.I. mode will be available offline, as well, so that if you’re running low on data, for your cell phone plan, or need to conserve a little extra battery, and want to still play, you can.
There is already a large roster of characters to play as, so even up front, when the game releases, you’ll have plenty of different skills and play-styles to try out, and find a character that suites you.
All in all, I think that if you like MOBA’s, and have been waiting for a good one to play when you’re not in front of your computer, this is one that you should give a try, next month.
