Players: 1 to 8 Player Game | Genre: FPS
Release Date: Spring 2015
Developer Yager has been brought in to bring Dead Island to the next level. With that comes Max--the story driving NPC. He wants to be a hero and lead a task force against the zombies. However, he is not immune to the virus so when trouble hits, he will be hiding. Yager is using Max to ensure the story is always in your face and makes the game more enjoyable to everyone.
Since this is a Zombie game, they are also a big focus of the game. There are young zombies, old zombies, fat zombies, skinny zombies, big zombies, small zombies, and everything inbetween. This time around the zombies won’t look alike with a new system they have in place. Zombies aren’t the only thing that can cause danger to the player. There are also human factions that you will have to battle against.
There are thousand of weapons. Also, for the first time, there are motorized weapons. These require fuel--which is a scarce resource so you have to use them sparingly. This also leads into the enemy perception system. Zombies will react to noise. So using one of these motorized weapons will cause the enemies to move towards you. If you are wielding a motorized double-edged sword slicer, this may be just what you want to happen. Zombies will also move towards things like car alarms so you can use this to move packs of zombies to different places and blow them up with a bomb or catch the group on fire. The choice is yours. Also, for the first time, dual wielding weapons is possible in Dead Island.
In Dead Island 2, there is seamless cooperative multiplayer for up to 8 players on a map at once. This is shared survival for a group of friends. But multiplayer isn’t the only focus of Dead Island 2. Players will be able to play in a great offline, single player world as well. To help achieve a better story this time around, the team at Yager has brought in an Emmy Award Winning writer. They want it to be known that this is a major focus of the game and they have heard the complaints of the first game in this area.
From what we have seen, Dead Island 2 is shaping up to be a much bigger and better title than the original. Though it remains to be seen if they can deliver on all the promises made, Dead Island 2 should be on your radar. It is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the Spring of 2015 and runs on the Unreal 4 engine. They also promise endless replay value. Dead Island 2 is Paradise Meets Hell and you are the matchmaker!
