Midway suddenly dimmed the lights and opened their E3 press conference with a trailer for Stranglehold. Then Mike Bilder, the head of Midway’s Chicago studio came out to talk about the game, essentially giving us all the same information we have heard before. The demo is coming shortly for Xbox 360, PC and PS3 – with the full game coming in August. Multiplayer include Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.
David Zucker, President and CEO of Midway came out to talk about Midway’s transition. There are more PC games, and more original titles. The TNA license is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2. The Wheelman will be (Midway hopes) to be a demonstration of the type of synergy Hollywood and the videogame industry.
A video for BlackSite: Area 51 showed a soldier, Aaron Pierce, who winds up finding a different type of enemy in the Middle East – the war apparently follows him home. Harvey Smith, the Creative Director in charge of the game announced a demo coming in August. A co-op mode is being implemented, and the game has highly destructible environments. The squad commands are context sensitive. The squad was highlighted, how they have worked together. The morale system is shared by the team, not designated by a bar on the screen, but in their actions, such as taking cover versus charging in with more aggression.
Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic then came out to announce that Unreal Tournament III is coming to the PC and PS3 this November. The video shown had lots of detail and more than enough action to satiate the hardest of the hardcore.
And the press conference ended almost as abruptly as they began.
