Players: 1 to 4 Player Game | Genre: Party
Release Date: 01/30/07
Although Fuzion Frenzy, for the original Xbox, has to be one of the worst Party games I have ever played, it is still one of the most highly sought after used games. Speaking to several Gamestop stores in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I was told that Fuzion Frenzy is sold as quickly as one finds its way into the store. Even Bill Gates himself has gone on record stating that Fuzion Frenzy is one of his favorite games. Perhaps this is why Microsoft has elected to have a sequel developed?
Instead of having the first game rehashed, Microsoft has enlisted arguably the greatest Party game Developer in the industry today. Hudson Soft, best known for their yearly development work on the Mario Party franchise. With the skills of Hudson Soft, this means that Fuzion Frenzy 2 is going to be great... right?
FF2 looks to continue with its trend of futuristic mini-games with metalic objects. Although the game is set to be released on November 7, 2006, the 2006 Tokyo Game Show demo was missing most of the mini-games. In total the game only has a bout 50 mini-games--which seems to be far too few. Will this be yet another title that will force players to buy new content via the Xbox Live Marketplace? If so, that will be very disappointing unless they are free. It isn't that I hate paid content updates. I just don't approve of games releasing with less content than they should have just to charge extra on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Fuzion Frenzy 2 will be playable for up to four players. While we aren't sure, we have our fingers crossed for some sort of Xbox Live play as well. For a game that is coming out in just a few months, we are sure left with several unknown issues. But if anyone can pull it off, it is Hudson Soft. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope they can keep Mr. Gates happy.
