Players: 1 to 2 Player Game | Genre: Platform
Release Date: 11/15/13
Sony is ushering the next generation with their very own new IP. Knack is a action game that has Mark Cerny, the Lead PS4 Architect, as the Game Director. Bringing his expertise from past action/platformer games like Jak & Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, and Ratchet & Clank, Knack gives the control over what would appear to be a Computer Generated movie from Dreamworks or Disney Pixar.
At first glance, Knack seems silly an unimpressive. However, there are a lot of elements creating a next-generation action platformer under the hood that couldn't be accomplished on the current generation of console hardware. Cerny and his team are hard at work to make sure fans of classic PlayStation action platformers feel like this exclusive PS4 title is a dream come true.
In the game a Doctor uses ancient relics to create Knack by bind the relics together. These relics are what form around Knack and gives him the different shapes and sizes seen in the teaser trailer at the PlayStation 4 First Reveal Event. As the player goes through the game, Knack will also learn to combine the relics that form him with substances like Ice, Metal Fire, etc. This gives Knack a ton of different powers and playstyles.
Knack was also shown as a title to take advantage of the built in Remote Play features of the PlayStation 4. Using the built-in Gaikai technology, your PlayStation Vita will be able to stream Knack, from your PS4, when the TV is in use. This isn't a watered down experience but will give users the full game in the palm of their hands. Sounds like the best reason to own a Vita will be with PlayStation 4 users.
Knack is rumored to be a PlayStation 4 launch game and we should expect to learn more about the title, in the coming months, as we get closer to E3 2013.
