Players: 1 to 2 Player Game | Release Date: 07/11/05 | Genre: Sports
Everybody knows that I am just not much of a college football fan on the consoles.
I will admit that I was, once again, not very excited about playing this year's installment of NCAA 06. I was thinking it was going to be the same game with a new roster and a few new animations. However, I must admit after actually sitting down with the game for a few weeks, I am very impressed. Something that I never thought would be possible.
First off let's start off with some of the new features. This year you have the race for the Heisman. This allows you to create a new character and guide him every week in achieving awesome stats. If you're good enough throughout the year, you will be invited for the chance to win the most coveted trophy in all of college athletics, you guessed it, the Heisman. The next feature is the dorm room. At the center of it all, the dorm room is where you access your game schedule, playbook, newsletters, fan mail, and more. As you progress through your career, the living conditions improve and the fan mail increases
It would be quite foolish to ignore graphics and control. So we will discuss that next. EA spent a lot of time on adding new animations and sprucing up the graphics for its latest iteration. With the new breakaway control now by using the analog you can pull off special moves like ankle-snapping jukes and QB sidesteps as you break tackles on the way to the end zone. The graphics have been spruced up as well. From the texture in the turf to the colors in the sky, the whole game has been re-designed.
So as you can see, I'm really impressed with this years game. I definitely recommend you go out and buy this version. Even though I'm not a console college football fan, take it from me you'll have a blast playing through this one.
