Last year, I was invited to attend Sony's Gamers' Day 2002 conference. While it only lasts one day, we got a lot of information about their upcoming titles and it provided us with a ton of information that wasn't really discussed at in as much detail. In addition to this, Sony announced Amplitude, the follow-up to the incredible Frequency. You can relive these past experiences in our Featured Articles or Editorial archived sections. This year, Sony has invited both me and our Assistant Editor, Emily, along to the show. The event itself takes place tomorrow, September 16.
At this time, I am not quite sure what Sony will be showcasing at this year's conference. I have my hopes up that they will be giving us some more information on the PSP. For those of you not familiar with what the PSP is, it is the PlayStation Portable that Sony announced at E3 in May. It is scheduled to be released about a year from now and will be showcased at E3 2004. If this is not shown, my guess is that Sony will announce a new First Party title or have some other major announcement. In addition to these, we will be seeing a lot of the First Party Titles that have already been announced. Jak 2, Ratchet & Clank 2, the new EQ expansion, and further details on Final Fantasy XI--along with the Hard Drive add-on. Again, none of this has been confirmed by Sony to be showcased at the 2003 Gamers' Day conference. This is just speculation.
Both Emily and I are excited to be attending the conference and you will be able to read all of our thoughts in a SCEA Gamers' Day 2003 Diary. We also plan to bring you several previews and news stories of the things announced during the show. So stay tuned for what should turn out to be a great day full of Sony announcements and previews.
