Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix

Developer: Shaba Games | Publisher: Activision
Players: 1 Player Game | Release Date: 03/15/05 | Genre: Sports

One of the most loved franchises at Activision is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. After several successful versions of the game across many different consoles, Activision moved the series in a direction with Tony Hawk's Underground. This PSP version of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix is almost identical to the game released last fall on all the big-screened consoles. However, the Developer, Shaba Games, has given players four new levels in this PSP version to help provide some new gaming experiences in the story mode. These include Kyoto, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Santa Cruz.

Visually, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix looks very close to the PlayStation 2 title from last year. This is an amazing feat for a First Generation title and showcases just how powerful the PSP can become in the future. One of the things missing from this PSP version is that there are no voices inside the levels. But besides that, you will feel right at home if you have played this title before. Even the tight controls are almost identical to the feel of the PS2 version!

THUG2 Remix gives you a list of objectives to complete in each level of the story mode. You will have to choose whether you will be part of team Hawk or team Bam on this world tour of destruction. You won't find any onscreen instructions on where to locate your next objective or what you are supposed to do to complete them. If you need to see this, you will have to pause the game and look there for all the details. It would have been nice if some of these details could have been included on the screen during gameplay, but you cant always get what you want, right? Players will get points once they complete tasks. Each task is worth a different amount of points. Once you have accrued enough points, you will then move on to the next level.

If you do want to play the game in the classic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater style, there is a 샬assic Modeou can play that will have the same gameplay structure of the first several games in the series.

Players also have the option to play with up to four other local players in 11 different gameplay modes. Some of these include: graffiti, capture the flag, king of the hill, slap, combo mambo, score challenge, trick attack, and more. I was personally hoping that online play would be added to THUG2 Remix but for some reason it is not included. Perhaps Activision is saving this for the next incarnation of the series on the PSP.

If you are a fan of the series, you will feel right at home with Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix. However, those of you who played last year's game to death may find that the four levels are simply not enough to warrant a $49.95 price tag. If you are new to the series or haven't played last year's version, THUG2 Remix will give you hours and hours of fun on your new PSP.
