Players: 1 to 4 Player Game | Genre: Sports

One of the biggest concerns for fans of the Wii is how the new, unique controller will interface with all of their favorite types of games. Well, a new tennis demo showcases the ways the controller will interface with sports games, and it’s looking positive.
Utilizing the accelerometer inside of it, the controller detects quick motions created by the player to detect what kind of action they are performing. To this end, players of Wii Tennis will play the game by actually swinging the controller as if it were a racket: a quick flip up to toss the ball in the air and then a forward swing to smack it at their opponent. Players will continue this behavior to return the ball, hitting it back and forth across the court while looking like tennis players themselves. The angle of return will be adjusted based on the player’s timing with their swing.
Overall, the game seems to control very well and flow with the motions, unlike past attempts at similar controls. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more integrations of the controller in the coming days.
