Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Developer: Square Enix | Publisher: Square Enix
Players: 1 Player Game | Genre: Action/RPG
Release Date: 03/24/08

Square-Enix fans have been waiting for well over a year to see the first demo of the newest Final Fantasy VII spinoff: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. While we still don't have anything playable, we have seen it running a little bit more at Tokyo Game Show 2006.

Crisis Core is an Action/RPG played in the Third Person. With the lack of Role Playing Games on the PlayStation Portable, Crisis Core; Final Fantasy VII looks to not only fill the void on the PSP but also gives fans insight to the unexplained elements of Final Fantasy VII.

At the 2006 Tokyo Game Show, we learned that players will control Zack. Zack is a young lad who joins the Shinra Corporation in their SOLDIER group and runs a variety of missions to prove himself.

The story in Crisis Core is a prequel to the events in Final Fantasy VII. This game begins before the recently released Dirge of Cerberus, for the PlayStation 2, and even before the Before Crisis game on Mobile Phones.

In Crisis Core, Players will see and experience events, items, and characters from the classic Final Fantasy VII Role Playing Game. For example, the main character, Zack, is joined by by Angeal--who carries a mysterious, large, sword that appears to be the same one Cloud uses in FF7.

We also will find appearances by Aeris, Tseng, and Sephiroth before he becomes evil. There is also an appearance by G from Dirge of Cerberus. G wears a red version of the costume Sephiroth wears in Final Fantasy VII.

Square currently plans to release Crisis Core in Japan sometime in 2007. No release Date for the US has been set.
