E3 2008: Naruto Path of the Ninja 2

Developer: TOSE | Publisher: D3
Players: 1 Player Game | Genre: Role Playing Game
Release Date: 10/15/08

naruto.jpgDeveloper Tomy and D3 have teamed up to bring a bigger and better version of Naruto: Path of the Ninja to the Nintendo DS. We took a few moments to take a look at the sequel at D3's booth at E3 2008.

The biggest improvement is the increase in roster of available characters. The first Path of the Ninja only offered players seven characters to choose from. However, this is all changed in Path of the Ninja 2. Players will now have a roster of thirty characters to choose from. In addition to this, your squad has been increased from four characters instead of just three. But the improvements to the first title do not end with the that. Players will be able to play in head to head matches over the Nintendo WiFi. This feature was not available in D3's booth but we were told that it would be working when the game releases and that players can start battling friends and strangers after about fifteen minutes of initial gameplay.

Story will be an integral part of the Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 experience. While the first game was based on the original manga, the new game is an entirely new experience from within the world of Naruto. Developer Tomy is planning on offering players new challenges, more surprises, and more fun.

With the current build, we were not shown any of the story elements or any other elements of the game. However, in battle, we were shown special abilities and that each character can summon their own creature to help.

Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 is set for release this fall on the Nintendo DS.
