E3 2010 Metal Gear Solid Rising First Look

Developer: Kojima Productions | Publisher: Konami
Players: 1 Player Game | Genre: Action
Release Date: TBA

E3 just wouldn't be complete without a little tease for the next iteration of the Metal Gear Franchise. E3 2010 lived up to this promise by giving us a small glimpse into the future of Metal Gear with Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Hideo Kojima took the stage at the Microsoft Press Conference to show us the game and, happily, not include any type of Kinect support into the title.

In Metal Gear Solid: Rising, players will fully take control of the new hero of the MGS franchise--Raiden. The torch has been passed and though we still don't know if Snake will make an appearance, Raiden's cutting action will probably make us forget.

The demo begins with a rusty old building and a menacing looking enemy walking around. Raiden drops down and slices the robot in half, pulls out his heart, and absorbs the energy. This is Metal Gear Solid: Rising -- Lightning Bolt Action.

The video continues with Raiden cutting up enemy after enemy, with the words Cut playing over and over. Finally we are left with the tag lines:"Cut at Will" Cut at what you will" What will you cut? The power is in your hands!"

The demo concludes with Raiden slicing a watermelon in half and in typical Kojima Productions humor, Raiden slices the watermelon in to small hand-sized pieces. While we aren't sure how the game will play, it is very clear that this will be centered on action and slicing enemies. The gameplay appears to feature a type of line, in the middle of the screen, that allows you to swing your blade in the way you want. Also, this title is coming to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

We will have to wait a bit longer to find out more. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that TGS reveals more details. We would sure hate to wait until E3 2011 to get further answers.
