BookBook for iPad

Developer: Twelvesouth | Publisher: Twelvesouth
Players: N/A | Release Date: 05/24/13 | Genre: Accessory

Style, elegance, and uniqueness. These are but a few words that come to mind when visioning the BookBook for iPad.  I have had the pleasure of slipping my new Retina-enabled iPad 3 into the BookBook and toting it around to various places and speaking engagements.

My peers know me as a gadget guy. I have the latest and greatest in electronics and this sets me apart from others. Instead of using a pen and pad to take notes, I am tapping away on my iPad with a stylus or external keyboard. Instead of toting around a Bible to church, I use my iPad and an App.  Instead of speaking with notecards or an outline, I unzip my BookBook and use the Pages app.

The first time I tested out the BookBook was a day after receiving a review unit from the PR group at Twelvesouth. I had been involved in a preaching class where we had to write and give sermons in front of our peers. Though I am not about to try and compare the BookBook to the Holy Bible, it is a very close second in looks.

The brown leather, though easily scratched, i thick, sturdy, and yet still feels light.  You place your iPad one corner at a time, into the two bottom leather brackets and a cord fastens the device in place at the top. On the opposite side is a leather circle with a wrapped cord around it. This is used to wrap around the BookBook and use it as a stand. This does, however, mean you have to slide out the iPad and put the cord behind the device.

BookBook for iPad is finished off with a zipper and two leather bookmark-like tabs that hang down and are complete in super thick brown leather. Sure, if you look real close at it, you can see BookBook for iPad is not a book. Zipped up, on a shelf, or at a glance though, and you won't be able to tell the difference.

I mentioned above that the leather can get scratched very easily. This may bother some. It did at first for me as well. However, it does give BookBook a very worn and aged look. Sophistication is what comes to mind. If it really bothers you, pick up some leather cleaner and wipe it down and it will be good as new.

The most enjoyable part of BookBook for iPad, besides the looks, is the comfort in holding it. Thinking of holding zippers on a case doesn't sound pleasant. But BookBook is soft and cushiony. It is as beautiful to hold as it is to gaze upon.

From the gorgeous spine to high craftsmanship, BookBook for iPad is a case I highly recommend.
