Kao the Kangaroo

Developer: Titus | Publisher: Titus
Players: 1 Player Game | Release Date: 12/11/01 | Genre: Action

I always try to be fair and honest when I review a title. However, there are times when being honest just can't describe how poor a product is. Such is the case with Kao the Kangaroo. At first glance, Kao doesn't appear to be bad at all. It is cute and colorful. What could be wrong?

At the start, it seems nothing is wrong. However, after beginning to move my character, I questioned if anything was right. So what is so wrong? I must admit that this is the first title where I haven't been able to get passed the first level without quitting in disgust. No, it isn't that I am a horrible player but enemies appear out of nowhere and our fearless Kangaroo gets hit. It seems that no matter what you do, you will get hit.

Just to ensure I wasn't crazy for thinking this game was impossible, I passed this title off to one of my associates. She nearly threw the Game Boy Advance across the room after trying to get further in Kao the Kangaroo.

All other aspects of Kao seem to be great. Like I mentioned above, the graphics are cute and colorful and the music is just fine. However, how much fun can you possibly have with a title that is this hard?

If you are a younger gamer with more time and patience than I have, Kao the Kangaroo may be just the game for you. However, those of us who want a title that is actually playable, can just skip over this one.
