Logitech Cordless Controller for Xbox

Developer: Logitech | Publisher:
Players: | Release Date: 05/18/12 | Genre: Accessory

I have looked at several wireless controllers from a variety of companies in the past. However, none of them have ever really been worth purchasing. Why would I want to play a game with a controller that is less responsible and not nearly as comfortable as the one that comes with my console? Finally there is a real wireless controller that is worth cutting the cords for.

As with their PS2 Cordless Controller, Logitech has come out and released a product for the Xbox that is ever bit as good as the standard controller that comes with the console. Okay, first lets get some negative things out of the way. There are no memory card slots on this controller. That means you cannot use a standard Xbox Live Headset or any other devices that need to connect to a memory card slot. That can be resolved by the pricey--but still very nice Logitech Cordless Headset. The two products combine to provide the ultimate wireless solution and counter the biggest negative complaint of the Cordless Controller by itself.

I admit that I really like the PS2 wireless controller and find that I use it quite often. The Xbox controller is just as good. The shape is similar to the PS2 design and that may cause some current Xbox owners to look past it. Trust me, it is comfortable and will feel good in your hands even if it isn't the same shape of the standard Xbox controller. The Cordless Controller for Xbox has a very high quality feel to it that doesn't appear like it will fall apart easily.

The biggest complaint about the controller is that the analog sticks are slightly looser than the standard Xbox controller and the D-Pad is not quite as nice. However, these are two areas you will get used to after playing with the controller more. The other buttons on the controller all feel great and arranged in a diamond pattern. The trigger buttons are also perfectly place and perform very well in testing. I noticed no lag time when playing games and even after I got around 30+ hours of gameplay time in, the controller performed as well as it did with new batteries.

Logitech says you will get around 50 hours of gameplay time with the rumble enabled. The only thing I could ask for is a recharge station so I didn't have to put new batteries in. Despite this wish, 50 hours, with rumble, and only 4 AA batteries isn't a very high price to ask for this type of performance.

While the Wavebird is still the standard for Wireless console controllers, Logitech is a close second. And since the Wavebird is only on the GameCube, there is no denying that this controller, combined with the Logitech Cordless Headset is the ultimate wireless solution for any Xbox Live player. The only issue that remains is the cost to obtain both pieces. If you can afford it, it is definitely worth it.
