Prehistorik Man

Straight from the stone age, Titus brings us Prehistorik Man, a platform title that will find its appeal more from younger gamers than old.

You are in charge of getting food for your village. In each level your goal is to complete the level and grab as many burgers and other food items as you can before it is to late. However, if this is supposed to be set in the stone age, why are there modern food items scattered throughout the world?

The gameplay is very reminiscent of the platformers seen long ago on the Super Nintendo and Genesis. Unfortunately for the players, the gameplay is just as shallow as those titles were too. The simple gameplay consists of walking or jumping onto food and using your club to defeat enemies. At certain times, other gameplay elements will be introduced--like a hang-glider. However, for the most part, the action stays simple.

Another negative aspect to Prehistorik Man is that there is no battery backup. This means that you cannot save your game on a cartridge and are forced to write down passwords. Clearly this must have been overlooked by the developers because who keeps a piece of paper handy when playing a portable game. Also, what happens if the player loses the paper with the password on it? You guessed it... it is time to start over.

In the end, younger kids will probably have fun with Prehistorik Man. However, older gamers seeking deeper gameplay will probably want to leave this title back in the stone age and look for something more modern.
