E3 2013 may be a conference where both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 made their first official appearances together. However, the show really wasn’t about those consoles. With Microsoft and Sony revealing them at events earlier in the year, the focus was placed back on the software. For gamers, this is a good thing. We here at CVGames have picked 8 of the best titles to feature as our Best of E3 2013. Part 1, of our two part series, features 5 games.

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs returns to E3 for the last time as its release date nears this fall. Last year, this game took the world by storm as one of the first rumored next-generation titles. This year, that has been confirmed and people are already starting to get excited about hacking, an open world, and great story.

You can learn more about Watch Dogs in our Updated Preview here.

Destiny

After creating history with the Halo franchise, what do you do for an encore? For Bungie, they knew that they just didn’t want to continue making Halo games for the rest of their creative lives. Instead, they left the comforts of Microsoft, the Xbox, and the franchise they created into a cult classic and ventured off for unknown pastures. Activision gladly inked them to a publishing deal and Destiny was born.

It is your Destiny to read our preview of the game here.

The Witcher 3

Next-generation RPG? Check.  Sequel to one of the greatest games of last generation? Check.  The ending to one of the most beloved modern RPGs? Sadly another check. The Witcher 3 is the first open world game from CD Projekt RED and is the final chapter in the Witcher Saga. We had a chance to spend about an hour of the game at E3 2013 and we walked away impressed and eager to get our hands on more. The game isn’t coming out until    Spring of 2014 so we have some time to kill. Anyone have a time machine we could borrow?

The Evil WIthin

What do you do after essentially creating the Survival Horror Genre, with Resident Evil, and redefining it, with Resident Evil 4? If you are Shinji Makami, you attempt to change the genre again and push it in a new direction. This is the attempt with his latest title The Evil Within.

Titanfall

Titanfall is the new IP from the creators of Call of Duty. After a very messy breakup with Activision over money and creative control, the heads of the studio at Infinity Ward left to form their own studio. Electronic Arts and EA Partners picked them up and the rest is now history. Titanfall looks to be one of the very best Xbox One titles and takes the First Person Shooter genre in a new direction with giant mech robots, known as Titans, and jetpacks on soldiers on the ground, known as pilots.
