Do you ever feel really really left out? I mean, no one invited you to the high school prom left out? Oh, no one invited you to the high school prom? Sorry… But you understand where I am right about now. I have not read the DaVinci Code. I don’t really know what it is about (except for research for the purposes of this article) and I don’t really care. But, when it becomes a part of the gaming world, as blockbuster movies are want to do, I guess I have to take notice.
2K Games is the lucky publisher that got the rights to turn this behemoth of a movie into a video game. I guess that is why Tom Hanks isn’t starring in the game- 2K is too smart to make someone write the code for that hairdo. In a perfect example of convergence, in house developer the Collective is working with DaVinci Code author Dan Brown to make the story new and exciting for everyone that has already read the book or seen the movie.
The DaVinci Code is basically a puzzle-oriented game that will follow Dr. Robert Langdon on his quest to unravel a mystery that has outlived all of us. All the while, the goons are trying to kill him. The game helps him along his quest by showing him clues that may lead him to discovering the truth behind this grand conspiracy. By closely examining the clues around him and manipulating the environment and objects, Langdon can discover clues and file them in an appendix that can be pulled up at any time when faced with a puzzle that is a little too difficult to remember all of the pieces.
One minor part of the game is fighting. You will have to get into some tussles to keep Langdon alive on his quest. There will be preset combos on screen that will help you take down the bad guys with extreme prejudice. Neither Langdon, nor the female lead, Sophie were trained by Steven Segal, so you will have to be stealthy and smart as you enter into these altercations.
The forces of good and evil are hard at work as Langdon and Sophie try to make the world a little better place for us all by having one less mystery to solve. By uncovering the clues and tirelessly making the baddies pay, we will all live in a little better world. Look for the DaVinci Code right now.
