PS4 Lets Do Launch & New Announcements

The PlayStation 4 has launched in North America to long lines, big crowds, and no consoles to be found for those who didn’t preorder. Sony’s $399 box, a full hundred cheaper than the Xbox One, is off to a great start. But Sony wasn’t content on just releasing the console. No, they had some big announcements to share with their legions of fans.

First up, Oddworld and Developers Just Add Water are talking about the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee built on a brand new engine. This is Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty and they revealed it will release on Sony’s platforms, including PS4, PS4, and PS Vita, in Spring 2014.

Here is the first story trailer of the new Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty to tide you over:

Next, the Ouya hit title from Developer IndieHouse, TowerFall, is coming to the PlayStation 4 exclusively and being renamed to TowerFall Ascension. This is a 4 player local multiplayer game where people use archery to kill their friends. The game has limited ammo and one hit will kill you so being strategic with your placement on the screen is key.

The PlayStation 4 version will feature 50 new versus levels, 4 more playable archers, an all-new, twelve-player cooperative Quest mode, 6 additional power-ups, and more. You can view a trailer for the game below:

We also have learned that inFAMOUS Second Son will launch on PlayStation 4 on March 21, 2014! Though it was originally set to be a launch title, the Development Team at Sucker Punch needed a bit more time to finish up and polish what is sure to be an awesome PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Last night, Konami revealed that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the Prequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, will feature an exclusive “Classic Solid Snake” skin on PlayStation. They will also feature an exclusive mission, on PS4, called Deja Vu.

Next, Bungie and Activision revealed that Destiny will be coming out first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Those who preorder the game will also be the first to play Destiny with exclusive Beta access. You can view the announcement trailer below:

Finally, the biggest news of all! Naughty Dog, the team behind the hit Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises, will be releasing the next Uncharted game, Uncharted 4, on the PlayStation 4!!! No release date was given and we can expect to learn more about this title as we move closer to E3 2014.

The reveal trailer can be seen below:

So not only is the PlayStation 4 here, but these announcements can fuel fans in looking forward to the future of their shiny, new console!
