Wolfenstein New Order First Look

Developer: MachineGames | Publisher: Bethesda
Players: 1+ Player Game | Genre: FPS

Release Date: Q4 2013

B.J. Blazkowicz is back once again and Bethesda is rebooting his franchise for more Nazi destruction with new developer MachineGames at the helm. In an alternate reality, the Germans won World War II and now B.J. finds himself facing an even more technological impressive Nazi foes after awakening from a coma 14 years after the events from his original titles.

Wolfenstein may be a reboot but MachineGames and Bethesda are making this an action packed ride with fast FPS goodness that will make fans of the franchise gleeful. Since the Nazi’s won WW2, in this alternate timeline, players will also get to play with futuristic weapons and robots as you attempt to put the evil Nazis back where they belong--6 feet under.

Gameplay in Wolfenstein will have B.J. slowly regenerate health for a short time and players can locate health packs in boxes, crates, and other objects throughout the level. MachineGames seems to be taking the franchise to be something more of what Duke Nukem was to gaming. B.J. spouts off “one-liners,” foul language, sexual inuendo,  and only able to handle his foes with run and gun action as seen in a summer blockbuster movie. It appears that MachineGames has enlisted some good voice actors. So the voice work could be very good despite how good the script and direction of the dialogue is. I say, Duke is a sign of where games used to be and we can be better, and more mature, than that now. That is just my personal 2 cents.

Wolfenstein is blasting its way, via this reboot, during Q4 of 2013. Bethesda now states the game will appear on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStaton 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. I am curious to see how the game looks on the new consoles and how well the PC version compares to them as well.

Hopefully Wolfenstein won’t disappoint and be the true successor to the first ever First Person Shooter that we fans all want it to be. Long live B.J. Blazkowicz!!
